Plot
A look at the nightlife of four vampires who have lived together on Staten Island for over a century. At the SXSW Film Festival, Jemaine Clement and "What We Do in the Shadows" The actors reveal who they want to guest star in the series. This was done to ensure that traditional prosthetic teeth do not interfere with their speech patterns or pronunciation of words.

You’re Dead By Norma Tanega & Norma Phyllis Kutzer Performed by Norma Tanega[theme song; played during the show’s opening credits]. What We Do in the Shadows follows a small group of vampires living together on Staten Island and the adventures they get into. The film, which follows a diverse group in Wellington, New Zealand, is excellent and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it before.

What makes a show better than a movie is the episodic nature of television. Thanks to the episodic format, plots can start and end faster than a movie, characters can be developed more, and they can be thrown into a lot of crazy situations. The film had great world-building, but it could only do so much in its 85-minute runtime, and the show contributes to the fact that it had more time.

The show wouldn’t work if Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, who wrote/directed/starred in the movie. They made sure that the tone, production design, cinematography and humor were all on par with the film. Thank god season 2 is coming!
