Although the film is supposed to be shot in New York, the Australian set is passable, but the doorknobs are about 3 feet off the ground in the U.S. When the street view is shown, the cars are placed on the "wrong side" of the street compared to the U.S. Frank: I don’t think spiders are good pets. STING is a really good monster movie with impressive special effects – both CGI and practical. If you’re a fan of such films, then this monster will not disappoint you. While the story may not be complex, it gets the job done, providing us with plenty of horror, gore and a bit of humor along the way. Set in an apartment building during a severe snowstorm, the residents begin to face a serious bug problem after young Charlotte (Alyla Browne) catches and befriends a tiny spider.
Charlotte’s family adds pathos and dysfunction to the proceedings
Of course, we know from the opening that the arachnid is actually a visitor from outer space. A creature with a voracious appetite and the ability to grow at an alarming rate. One thing that helps this movie is that it has a lot of quirky characters, including an elderly woman with dementia; a fighter with an attitude; a strange, monotonous biologist; and a mean, very bitter building owner. A fun, scary film with a nice nod to classic sci-fi features…
