The film’s estimated budget was around $150,000
Plot
In this supernatural winter epic set in the 19th century, a drunken apple dealer must rise from the ashes to become the hero and defeat hundreds of beavers to become the largest fur trapper in North America. Director Mike Cheslick estimated that the masquerade costume cost around $10,000, and the crew purchased all the costumes online.
The film is mentioned in Junk Podcast: Episode 940: Immaculate (2024)
His mustache falls off & gets caught in the snow as he goes up. He walks away without picking it up, but puts it back on in the next scene.
Written and produced by Jean Kayak and His Acme Applejack Wayne Tews, created and co-produced by Carl Landwehr
There are so many great old school moments that fly past the screen, either incorporated or combined, encouraging multiple viewings (which I would happily do with faint enthusiasm). This movie is like taking all the best classic cartoon skits, throwing in a hint of video game logic, then expanding them into a full-length feature and somehow nailing it.
It’s the most entertaining theatrical experience I’ve had in a long time
With no downtime, it just keeps going, getting weirder and weirder, but always keeping the narrative in focus. For such a low budget, they’ve toned down the animation style with simple but effective tools like perfect settings or bad costumes and ridiculous props.
