Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. The filmmakers of the previous films have mentioned playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2001) and the standalone game Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) for inspiration. The film also draws narrative elements from the Sonic the Hedgehog (1993) animated television series. When Tom (James Marsden) is being transported in the ambulance, the sound of the ambulance is the American siren, not the English siren. Better writing, better characterization, great humor and Keanu Reeves is a delight as Shadow. This film differs from the first 2, evidently in the tone of the film. a soul adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2 and they handled it better than I ever would have imagined. Shadow’s backstory is portrayed in a hauntingly beautiful way, not to mention his immaculate CGI model, I was so impressed with his appearance, Jim Carrey was humorous as always, an absolute delight to have in our franchise, he was hilariously amazing as both Ivo and Gerald. Ben Schwartz, Colleen & Idris shone brighter than ever. As a huge Sonic fan, this movie exceeded my expectations, what a feeling to be a Sonic fan! Easily one of the best pieces in Sonic history. 9/10.
