Originally set up with CBS for a series commitment in 2020, it was canceled just before the first episode was to film due to COVID. This series has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Haller’s second book “The Brass Verdict.” Mickey Haller has several cars, all with personalized California license plates with legal terms on them. Personalized California plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, but all of Mickey’s plates have at least eight.
The viewer identifies with the ups and downs of Haller’s legal career
This is an enjoyable first season of the series that is based on the novels by Michael Connelly. The duo David Kelley and Ted Humphrey succeed in bringing to the screen the raw story of the intelligent defense attorney Mickey Haller, his associates and his family. But one is impressed by his passion for the law and his genuine concern for his clients.
The plots are well-crafted and quite entertaining
The film is able to capture his deep humanity amidst his flaws. Aside from Haller, all the other main characters are endearing: Cisco, Lorna, Maggie, Trevor Elliott, Hayley and even Detective Griggs. The twists and turns pique the viewer’s attention while the drama resonates.
We look forward to learning more about the lives of Haller and his team
In particular, the way Haller is able to unravel the magic bullet, linking one crime to another, and use it at trial is ingenious. Serious students of criminal law and procedure will certainly appreciate the law and the free tutorial it offers. Start Season 2.
